Capalino Works with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to Open New Location in Brooklyn

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema NYCCapalino worked with our client Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a Texas-based cinema eatery, to open its second location in the New York City area. The one-of-a-kind movie theater will be located in Downtown Brooklyn’s City Point. This is one of the area’s largest mixed-use properties, totaling 1.8 million square feet of retail, office and residential space. Set to open in 2015, the theater will be a major boost to the local economy, creating jobs and serving as an anchor to one of the new and exciting hubs in Downtown Brooklyn.

Capalino played a major role in building support for this project, as well as securing necessary approvals. We worked with Alamo to build community awareness for their concept and the importance of the theater securing a liquor license. This is key to their unique concept of serving food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) directly to the moviegoers seat during the movie.

The Capalino team worked with the Alamo to present their vision to local stakeholders, including the economic benefits and other positive impacts the theater will bring to the neighborhood. The Drafthouse will create job opportunities for local residents, offer community-based programing and add to the energy and quality of the local culture. Many of the stakeholders were receptive and excited to have the Alamo in their neighborhood after learning about the role the theater will play in giving back to the local economy and community.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LogoThe Alamo will have an important impact on the development of Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn as a whole. As is their practice, the Alamo will partner with local farms and businesses to bring a local flair to the menu, including local beers.

Downtown Brooklyn is booming. As one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the country, Brooklyn is the ideal location for the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to flourish, and the neighborhood will benefit greatly from this exciting new addition.
