Capalino Participates in New York Nonprofit Media’s MarkCon Event
On September 17, 2015, Capalino joined leaders from the nonprofit sector as well as marketing and communications executives from across New York at New York Nonprofit Media’s MarkCon event to discuss how to build and promote a successful nonprofit brand. The conference was an opportunity to network, learn about the role of branding in the nonprofit sector, and share best practices for digital and physical marketing. It featured panels that brought communications and nonprofit experts together to discuss topics ranging from social media, to the importance of data analytics in both fundraising and advocacy.
“It’s increasingly important for all nonprofits to be able tell their story and define their brand. Doing so improves the organization’s ability to fundraise, build relationships, and communicate with various stakeholders,” said Jeanne Mullgrav, Executive Vice President at Capalino. “We are thankful to New York Nonprofit Media for sponsoring this conference, which was a great opportunity to discover strategies, tools, and tips for increasing the impact of nonprofits in New York City.”
New York Nonprofit Media is a leading news source for New York City’s nonprofit community. The publication has served nonprofits for the last 12 years as New York Nonprofit press. The publication was acquired by City & State NY in 2014, and relaunched a redesigned platform with four divisions: a print publication, digital platform, nonprofit careers listing, and events.
The event was held at the Fordham University Center for Nonprofit Leaders. The day opened with an introduction by Elaine Congress, the Associate Dean of Continuing Education at the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University before moving into the first panel.
The day was designed around a series of panels and networking breaks for attendees, including:
- A panel that examined how nonprofits can develop their brand in order to differentiate the organization from institutions in a similar field of service. It was moderated by Ron Gold of MarketingWorks, and featured panelists from both nonprofits and the Office of the Mayor of New York City.
- A discussion focused on how nonprofits can tell their stories in a way that makes them appealing to the press and the outside world, moderated by Saundra Thomas, VP of Community Affairs at WABC-TV.
- An in-depth look at how marketing analytics, databases, and data about digital engagement can be leveraged to build a nonprofit’s base and increase active support.
Capalino was thrilled to spend time and meet with leaders in the New York City nonprofit community at the event.
