Capalino’s Jeanne Mullgrav Discusses Public Funding: Securing Government Contracts for Not-for-Profit Organizations
In Fiscal Year 2014, New York City procured over $17.7 billion in goods, services, and construction. In anticipation of the release of a number of new Request for Proposals in the human services, we at Capalino want to remind non-profit providers of the importance of registering and prequalifying in the HHS Accelerator.
The HHS Accelerator is New York City’s online system by which agencies can:
- publish Requests for Proposals;
- award contracts;
- share vendor information;
- and prequalify vendors.
The platform allows agencies the capability to manage and streamline all steps of the health and human services procurement process. At Capalino, we want to ensure that any non-profit organization hoping to contract with the City is able to do so, and registering and prequalifying with the HHS Accelerator is crucial to ensure that your organization is successful.
The HHS Accelerator website provides step by step procedures and checklists for creating an account and prequalifying. Once vendors are registered with the HHS Accelerator, they become prequalified by completing and submitting a Business Application and a Service Application.
- The Business Application inquires about various organizational information such as the executive officers, filing information, board details, and various organizational policies.
- The Service Application is meant to determine the services that the organization currently provides and if the organization is capable of providing those services to the City.
Both applications are submitted online, including the required documents to verify the information inputted. Now that you have submitted the forms and your application is approved, your not-for-profit is “PRE-QUALIFIED” and may begin to respond to RFPs through the HHS accelerator.
With the expected release of important RFPs in the next few days, now is the time to begin the prequalification process. Follow these three simple steps below to begin your prequalification process:
1. Create an account: Account Creation and Adding Users Checklist Quick Start
2. Get prequalified: Prequalification Checklist Quick Start and Submitting the HHS Accelerator Application
3. Respond to an RFP: Submitting Proposals in HHS Accelerator
