Prior to joining Capalino, Azmi served at the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), most recently as the Deputy Borough Commissioner in the Bronx. Prior to that, she served as a Code & Zoning Specialist in Manhattan for 4 years. At the DOB, in addition to performing complex Building Code and Zoning reviews, she played a pivotal role in quickly resolving complicated, time-sensitive, technical matters for applications, audits, complaints, permits, inspections, and Certificates of Occupancy. Her ability to approach challenges holistically and find workable solutions to keep projects moving forward served the Agency well and will now be the focus of her work for clients at Capalino. Utilizing her technical knowledge, expertise, and her familiarity with the inner workings of City agencies, Azmi will assist Capalino clients in meeting a wide range of needs as they seek to secure licenses and approvals, resolve problems, and manage complex relationships between individuals and government.
Prior to the NYC Department of Buildings, Azmi worked as an architect, independently and for private firms, in the areas of architectural and interior design, due diligence and feasibility reviews, code and zoning assessments, comprehensive project management, and construction administration.
Azmi possesses both a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree and a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree, exemplifying her extensive educational background in the field. She holds active memberships in organizations such as the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the International Code Council (ICC), underscoring her commitment to professional excellence and staying abreast of industry standards and regulations.
